Belmont Shore, on Second Street in Long Beach is hands down one of the places you need to explore. I was here last on a day trip with friends, and I must say – you will not be at a loss for dining options. For a quick bite, check out Papulucci’s – your classic pizza options. For the more mature taste, 2nd street also has it’s many options of pubs and taverns. For just coffee, check out Aroma Di Roma (YUM). And for dessert, check out Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory for the best candy apple you’ve ever tasted. Later, take a scenic walk on the beach. Enjoy!

Today at Barnes and Noble at the Bella Terra in Huntington Beach, (1:30 pm), HB Reads will be hosting a new event as part of the 2012 HB Reads community reading program. Their motto is “Today a reader, tomorrow a leader,” and per their mantra, the children’s event’s main goal is the promotion of literacy and a love for reading. But that’s not all! The event will also feature crafts and storytime focused on appreciating the differences in people. The goal is to open the minds and hearts of children at a young age, to create a positive future. House of 80s

GOT OC at the Anaheim House of Blues presents the House of 80s concert. The cover band is The Reflexx, an Orange County based cover band that is a tribute to the sound and style of the classic alternative “New Wave” music of the 80′s. They pay homage to The Cure, Depeche Mode, Flock of Seagulls, David Bowie, U2, and many more. The doors open at 8pm and general admission is $15 at the door. The throwback to the 80s is perfect for all ages. Have fun!

Cruising along Balboa and Lido on a Duffy boat is definitely something anyone visiting Newport Beach must do. You could either hit Cest Si Bon before for sandwiches, or choose from the food platter options that Duffy offers, which makes them perfect for riding with friends or family. They make the best little picnics on the water. You will need a reservation to rent a duffy, but it’s well worth planning ahead of time – you just can’t miss it! Plus, what could be better than cruising along Newport Harbor on Valentine’s Day? Enjoy!

Mariposa Restaurant

Mariposa in Fashion Island is a fabulous little gem found inside of Neiman Marcus. So first thing’s first. Instead of bread and butter, this unique restaurant offers pop overs (fresh and fluffy pastries) with strawberry butter (which tastes just like fruit). The fish and chips are warm and flaky and the truffled Parmesan tater tots are really awesome (served with ketchup and tartar sauce). The atmosphere is really wonderful, the service is great, and the location couldn’t be more convenient! What’s not to like? Check out Mariposa and enjoy!
