The Huntington Art Collections and Botanical Gardens
The Huntington, located in San Marino, is like a setting taken out of a Jane Austen novel. The museums and gardens are tucked away in this small city scene near Pasadena. Yes, the Huntington has their famous library (featuring a Gutenberg Bible – no less!), but it also has a beautiful art collection, featuring many British pieces and mansion-style eighteenth century French furniture. One of the best known British works is “Blue boy” by Gainsborough. But the gardens are a more peaceful treat. The gardens are divided into more than a dozen themes, including the Australian Garden, Camellia Collection, Children’s Garden, Desert Garden Conservatory, Rose Hill Foundation Conservatory for Botanical Science, Desert Garden, Herb Garden, Japanese Garden and Zen Garden, Lily Pond, North Vista, Palm Garden, Rose garden, Shakespeare garden, Subtropical and Jungle Garden, and the Chinese Garden. Have a wonderful visit!![]()
